Clash Royale: Best Miner Decks (2025)

Pickaxe to the future.

The Miner has always been a standout card in Clash Royale. His ability to spawn anywhere on the map allows him to fit into a ton of strategies, some of which are amongst the best out there. The Miner is perfect to base a deck around, so in this article I’ll take a look at three great ones with Miner front and center. But first, let’s take a quick look at some of his mechanics and main uses.

How to Play the Miner

The key to playing Miner is to utilize his ability to spawn anywhere on the map. This is the sole reason he’s so good. While you can use this ability to chip away at towers or defend when needed, the main appeal is using him as an instant distraction. For example, you can put the Miner right in front of your opponent’s tower, then drop a Hog Rider, Balloon, or other threat. Then their tower will target the Miner while allowing your threats to do tons of free damage. This kind of combo isn’t hard to disrupt since Miner isn’t hard to kill, but it demands action and keeps the pressure up constantly. Eventually, they’ll slip up.

The actual damage of the Miner himself is rarely the point. You want to use him to allow other threats to successfully make their way to enemy towers. He’s not strong by himself, but he’s perfect when paired with aggressive, building-targeting threats.

Miner + Wall Breakers

Cards:

  • Cannon (Evo)
  • Wall Breakers (Evo)
  • Miner
  • Mighty Miner
  • Minions
  • Skeletons
  • Poison
  • The Log

This deck is pretty simple. It uses the standard Miner strategy of distracting enemy towers while a threat (Wall Breakers) gets to attack. Wall Breakers (especially with the evolution) are possibly the best troops for applying constant pressure. However, they’re very low-HP and easy to kill before they reach towers. Miner is the perfect card to ensure they get there, so he’s an easy option for pairing up with them. The other evolution in this deck is Cannon, which basically just gives more defense. It’s a cheap building that does a good job fighting off ground troops, and the evolution just makes it more effective at that.

Mighty Miner is my favorite of the defensive cards in this deck other than evolved Cannon. He’s a Champion troop that’s great for defending against tanks, no matter how much HP they have. His attack scales up in damage over time similar to the Inferno cards, so while he doesn’t do damage quick, he can do a lot of it. Then his Champion ability lets him switch to the other side of the arena, allowing him to avoid any possible threats (mostly swarms). To defend against air troops, the main option here is Minions. They’re cheap and effective, but they can be taken out easily. Make sure and keep Poison available for air defense if needed. Since this deck is heavily ground-focused, you might have to get creative with your air defense.

I recommend playing this deck aggressively, as you kind of have to. Wall Breakers have to be spammed, so you’ll want to be as aggressive with them as possible. If you’re against an opponent with lots of air troops, you might have to be really careful, though.

Miner + Balloon/Furnace

Cards:

  • Furnace (Evo)
  • Snowball (Evo)
  • Miner
  • Balloon
  • Ice Golem
  • Barbarian Barrel
  • Vines
  • Bomb Tower

With this deck, we have another classic strategy. While Lavaloon is probably the most popular Balloon deck of all time, a version with Miner + Balloon is probably second. Just like with Wall Breakers, the Miner is able to distract towers to cover for Balloon with ease. But the difference this time is that you don’t have to repeat the process as many times. Balloon can easily clear a tower in one attempt if it has enough time, which is exactly what the Miner is here to help with. Balloon is such an effective win con that I doubt we’ll ever see an evolution (at least not until everything else already has one), and it’s a card I really love playing with.

Outside of the Miner, this deck has several other ways to support the Balloon and defend. Evolved Furnace is one of the most popular cards in the game right now, so I highly recommend it. It’s able to defend against ground and air, spawns Fire Spirits, and simply provides the best support you could get. If you don’t have the Miner + Balloon combo in-hand, Furnace is a great alternative. Then we also have Ice Golem as a more direct distraction. Ice Golem is great for distracting attacking troops so your defense has the time they need, or for distracting enemy towers similar to the Miner. Barbarian Barrel is just included here to clear swarms and/or counter Goblin Barrel, then we have Bomb Tower as just a consistent building with good damage.

Vines is the newest card in this deck, and it’s one I’ve been seeing a lot lately. It brings flying troops to the ground, deals damage, and functions as a great counter to many troops. It’ll almost certainly get nerfed soon, but until then you should definitely be using it.

This deck doesn’t have to be played as aggressively as the first one. Waiting and biding your time until you get a good opening for a Miner + Balloon attack is the best play. Defend with Furnace and/or Bomb Tower, then throw some Snowballs in there too. Evolved Snowball is great for clearing the way for a good push, so it pays off to spam it so you can use as many evolved versions as you can.

Miner + Graveyard/Mega Knight

Cards:

  • Mortar (Evo)
  • Mega Knight (Evo)
  • Miner
  • Graveyard
  • Minions
  • Ice Spirit
  • Barbarian Barrel
  • Fireball

To finish this list off, I have one more deck that goes a little outside the box. The Miner combo for this one is centered around the Graveyard spell. Graveyard spawns a bunch of skeletons anywhere in the arena over a short period of time. This can result in a huge army attacking a tower in an instant. That being said, it’s easy to counter with any swarm-killing cards. Miner is able to stop towers from disrupting your undead army, hopefully giving them the time they need.

For evolutions, two options stood out to me. Mega Knight is a really strong evolution to use in any situation, as I’m a huge fan of clearing waves and leaving behind a massive tank while I’m at it. Plus, he can fight. Then Mortar serves a unique defensive role. While you can use Mortar to launch boulders/goblins directly at enemy towers, putting one by your towers to defend is also great. Especially once you have an evolved one, as the goblins build up to a strong army on their own after a few.

The last four cards of this deck are just generic defense/cycling. Minions are always good for fighting air troops like Balloon or Lava Hound, and Barbarian Barrel counters swarms perfectly. Ice Spirit is a great card to quickly cycle into another one, then there’s Fireball. Fireball is an all-round classic spell that deals a bunch of damage wherever you want, so you can never go wrong with it.

This deck is sort of in the middle regarding how you play it. With Mega Knight, you do have to be patient if you want the most rewards from it’s drop attack. Mortar also rewards patience if you’re trying to be offensive with it. But Miner + Graveyard is a more aggressive combo. You can play however you want, but just be very aware of your opponent’s Graveyard counters like Poison, Log, etc.
